Youth Sports Progression

Youth Sports Progression

PRC has adopted the below “Fundamentals Progression Model” in an attempt to level the playing field across multiple sports and ensure that participants are learning fundamentals that are multi-sport relevant for their age divisions in our youth sports. This model also aims to develop stronger, sport-ready athletes for the next step in their athletic career.

Tot- “Sportsmanship is the name of the game”
Youth in the 3-3 years range participate in organized, non-competitive sports leagues aimed at developing basic motor skills. Youth receive hands on experience while learning fundamentals, developing good habits and the value of sportsmanship. Teams in this division are drafted by staff.

PeeWee- “Teamwork is Key”
Youth ages 5-6 have fun while learning to work together in a team sport. Youth learn basic skills related to the sport. This organized, non-competitive sports league emphasizes the fun found in team sports. Teams in this division are drafted by staff.

Junior- “Development for the Future”
Youth age 7-8 participate in a structured, non-competitive sports league geared towards developing sports knowledge for future play. Participants not only develop physical skills related to the sport, but also gain knowledge of rules and plays that can be carried over to the next level. Teams in this division will be drafted by coaches.

B Division- Youth ages 9-10 years participate in a competitive league where score is kept and players learn specific skills and rules of play while enhancing their sense of sportsmanship. These attributes assist as they begin to advance to more competitive divisions. Returning players and coaches are kept together in an attempt to build cohesion among players and enhance competitiveness; remaining participants will be drafted by coaches to even out teams. Travel is possible depending on sign ups.

A Division- Youth ages 11-13 years now begin to refine and hone their fundamentals skills while beginning to understand game strategy. Players also develop skills including coordination, teamwork, and communication. These attributes benefit them for years to come in their life long journey in sports. Returning players are often kept together in an attempt to build cohesion among players and enhance competitiveness; remaining participants will be drafted by coaches. Travel is possible depending on sign-ups.
